Five Song EP Coming Soon!

The band is almost done with the first five-song EP. People have already had a taste of this EP with the early release of the two songs, "Side Ways" and "Stutter Fog," available to buy until the release of the EP (please see the last post on this blog for more purchase details). The final mixes of these two songs will be slightly different than what has been released, so a download now will give a different version that will not be available again. Please stay tuned for more information! Please "Like" our Facebook Fan Page.

Stutter Fog - Non-Multitrack Rough Demo

This is a song we've been composing/constructing for the last week. It was recorded originally as live guitar and drums on a digital two track machine (Zoom). Then I took it home and put bass on it. We kept what we liked and created some new parts, then re-recorded it, again, as a two track wav file. I brought that home and added bass again, along with some synth and string parts. But none of this will work will make it through to the final multi-track version, which (for these first five songs, of which Stutter Fog is the fifth) is being begun Wednesday, February 15.

New guitar parts will be added, and soon the vocals will be as well.

But I wanted to give a sense of the process and also allow a tiny peek into the drumming style (bear in mind that what you here on this file was only the SECOND TIME the song had been played). The other songs sound a little different than this one, but the process for each of them has been the same.

Welcome to the Age of Blue

Blue Window is the creative recording project of Gary Tucci and Alex Wall.

I (Alex) am going to try keeping a band log, to follow the development of our new album, "Sherbet Chainsaw," due for release on May 21st, 2012.

A strange set of circumstances brought me together with my musical partner - drum-god and guitarist - Gary.

Both of us agree that "progressive" or "alternative" music today seems to be in a deep freeze.  So we are attempting to write and record songs that are experimental in some sense - as a way of trying to expand the original music palette open to other musician/songwriters here in Maine and abroad - but the songs are also (or so we've heard) appealing on many different musical-style levels.

We have found the music to be punchy--almost "punky," and also cerebral and "clean" sounding; with unusual chords and the incorporation of many different melodies (that create their own harmonies when layered).  In some songs three or four different musical styles are represented.  You'll hear what I mean soon.

We believe that inspite of these unusual attributes, the style we are developing could be enjoyed on pop, alternative, college and even adult contemporary radio.  But they'll hold their own in clubs and other live performances.

We are keeping our musical cards pretty close to our chest for a while, until we feel confident that we are well-ahead of the game in our current recording efforts.  Yet, I may occasionally publish flash-player samples of our music as it evolves here at this blog [please see and hear the next few posts].

There is a good chance that we will split this album up into 3 or 4 Special Release EP's, with 5 songs on each as they are multi-tracked, before we release them as a completed album.  I will produce and master these EP's, but the final album will be mastered at Gateway Studios, in Portland, Maine.

We hope to start performing this music live this spring and summer.  If you become a fan of Blue Window, please click Blogger's "Followers - Join this site" button here to show your support.

Please visit our Facebook Band Page, and click like to show your additional support.

Also, we are doing this with no budgeted funds set aside, but purely for the love of music.  So, feel free to click the "Support Blue Window - Donate" button if you would like to help out with our expenses.  Funds will be split evenly between Gary and myself.  Your name will be listed as a contributor on the final album cover and other accessories.

We thank you ahead of time for your love and support!
